Use this checklist to have a better conversation with your installer. A site-specific design is more useful than a headline panel count.
01 / What matters
Start with the site.
Ask for a design that considers roof orientation, available area, shade and condition. Request an explanation of how those factors affect the proposed output.
02 / What matters
Match solar to when you use energy.
Using solar directly can reduce purchased electricity. Exported energy and electricity you buy can have different values, so assess both in the model.
03 / What matters
Panels are one part of the system.
Ask how the inverter, property phase, export permission and possible future battery fit together. Record exact model numbers in the quote.
04 / What matters
Compare the complete installation.
Request product and performance warranties, installation cover, monitoring inclusions and the process for support. Ask which switchboard or roof works are excluded.
05 / What matters
Already have solar? Check before replacing.
Collect your current inverter model, system size and generation records. Ask for repair, extension and replacement options where suitable, with costs explained.
