Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how LastBill (ABN 85 657 309 558) (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal information. It is designed to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What we collect

• Your electricity bill and its contents — including your name, address, electricity account number, NMI, meter and tariff details, usage data and charges.
• Contact details — such as your email address (and phone number or other details if you provide them).
• Property information you give us — such as roof type, switchboard photos or site details, if you choose to add them for quoting.
• Technical and usage data — such as device, browser, IP address, and how you interact with our website (via analytics and cookies).

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you upload a bill, complete a form, use your dashboard, or contact us — and automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you use our website.

3. How we use it

• To read your bill and generate your personalised energy report and verdict;
• To operate your private dashboard and answer your questions;
• Only if you request quotes — to prepare your quote pack for the installers you choose (section 5);
• To send you service messages and our own updates about your report, timing and rebates — you can opt out of non-essential messages at any time;
• To operate, improve and secure our service;
• To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use your information to market other companies' products to you, and we do not give it to anyone else for their marketing.

4. We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Not to installers, not to marketers, not to data brokers — no exceptions. Our business is paid by installers by way of a referral fee when an installation you have chosen goes ahead — they pay for the work we referred, not for your data. Outside of the quote process you control (section 5), the only parties that handle your information are:

• Service providers acting on our instructions — such as secure hosting, database, email delivery and AI processing providers we use to run the service. They may only use your information to provide their service to us, never for their own purposes;
• A future owner of LastBill itself — if the business is ever merged or acquired, your information moves with the service as part of that change of custodian. That is not a sale of your data: the new owner must keep handling it under a policy at least as protective as this one;
• Authorities where the law requires it.

5. When you request quotes — sharing you control

If your report supports getting quotes and you choose to request them, we send a quote pack to the installers you select so they can price your job accurately. Before you confirm, we show you exactly what the pack contains. Depending on what you've provided, it includes:

• Your energy profile (usage, suburb, suggested system size);
• Your name, contact details and property address;
• Your bill and any photos you added for quoting.

This happens only when you explicitly request it — we record your consent (including the date and time) when you do. The installers we send it to are permitted to use your information only to prepare and follow up their quote for you. Once information is with an installer, their handling of it is governed by their own privacy policy — choose carefully, and tell us if any installer misuses your details so we can act, including removing them from our network.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia (for example, our secure database infrastructure). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

7. Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access — including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and storing your bill in your own private dashboard. No system is perfectly secure. We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations. Bills uploaded without an account are automatically deleted within 24 hours.

8. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can delete your uploaded bill from your dashboard at any time, and you can ask us to access, correct or delete anything else we hold about you by emailing stu [at] lastbill.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you have already asked us to share your quote pack with installers, we will also tell them of your deletion request, though their copies are governed by their own policies.

9. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and analytics tools to understand how our website is used and to improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

10. Children

Our service is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the “last updated” date shown above. If we ever propose to handle your information in a way that is materially less protective than this policy, we will ask for your consent first.
